Sharp and fresh in aroma, Sichuan pepper releases elegant citrus and camphor notes, accompanied by its characteristic mild tingling sensation on the tongue. Native to China's Sichuan province and belonging to the species Zanthoxylum piperitum, it is a "false pepper" once offered as a gift to Chinese emperors as a spice of great value. Once dried, the red berries naturally open to reveal the small black seed.

Ideal with fresh and cooked fruit, it also surprises when paired with chocolate.
