Confectionery
Founded in 1814, the historic Bottega is a protected monument under the supervision of the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape. In 2021, the first major restoration since its opening began, with the aim of returning its original beauty to the city of Genoa and the wider community.
Visitors can admire veneered furniture in “Spiniero” wood (now known as West Indian Satinwood), finely carved Rio Rosewood decorations, precious marble and bronze gas chandeliers.
THE CORNUCOPIA
In 1852, during the first restoration of the Soziglia Bottega, the monumental white marble devanture was created, which still defines the façade today.
At its centre is the cornucopia, or horn of plenty, an ancient symbol of prosperity from classical mythology that became the emblem of the Bottega.
The decorative ensemble tells the story of the Romanengo family.
The staff and winged helmet of Mercury evoke the family’s mercantile activities and origins, rooted in the spice trade through the port of Genoa.
The snakes, on the other hand, recall the tradition of the apothecary and pharmaceutical arts: for centuries, sugar was considered a precious spice and was sold in pharmacies, bearing witness to the deep connection between these ancient trades.
Finally, the bowl filled with fruit celebrates the richness of the Ligurian territory and the quality of the raw materials that are still selected and crafted according to tradition today.
Through its form and symbols, the cornucopia thus embodies Romanengo’s identity, expressing the enduring dialogue between history, territory and artisanal mastery.

Confectionery
Among the majestic nineteenth-century palaces of one of Genoa’s most prestigious streets, the second Romanengo Bottega opened its doors in 1930. Its dark wood interiors and large mirrors echo the elegance of Via Soziglia, creating a continuity of style and values. Officially recognised as one of the city’s historic botteghe, it still preserves the atmosphere of the nineteenth century to this day.

Confectionery
In the heart of Sant’Ambrogio, Milan, the Romanengo Bottega preserves the entire artisanal tradition of the historic confetteria.
Milan and Genoa have always been connected throughout Romanengo’s history: a bond shaped by culture, trade and the great figures of their time. Among them was Giuseppe Verdi, a devoted customer of the maison, who helped symbolically intertwine the paths of the two cities.
THE LITTLE MICE AT WORK
These little mice represent our artisans, quietly and diligently at work. Guardians of our savoir-faire, they inhabit small niches throughout our Botteghe and Corti, where they continue to work with patience and dedication.
